Frankie Finance's Dynamics NAV Update

Microsoft Dynamics NAV Update and Dynamics 365 Business Central Plans

Me: Hey Frankie! It’s been about a year since we last chatted. How’s everything going with you?

Frankie: Hi Michael! It has been some time since we last spoke. I’m doing well. Now that my work week has some regularity to it I’ve taken up playing Texas Hold’em Poker. I finally beat my husband and took some of his money last week. Of course he now claims that because I’m in the financial field and good with numbers that I’m able to count cards and that’s the only reason I beat him and our friends. I told him that’s not true but what is true is that I’m good at counting the money I won from you. [Laughs]

Me: [Laughing] Way to go Frankie. Does your work week having regularity by chance have anything to do with Dynamics NAV?

Frankie: It has everything to do with it! Not only am I organized but our entire organization is as well. It may not like seem like a lot to most but having real-time information available was a game changer for us. The way we handled things before NAV required most of the people in my department to stay after hours and get “caught-up” before the start of the next day. Now we’re able to function during normal business hours and have lives after work. Occasionally there are some things that we have to do after hours but we have web client and mobile client accessibility so it’s not too big of a deal. We can work from the wherever we are at that moment.

Me: And that’s what good ERP is all about. Streamlining processes, more accessibility, and better information. So, tell me, if you could go back and do it all over again would you make the same choice?

Frankie: Absolutely! That’s not to say that we haven’t had our frustrations. But between you, me, and the lamp post, our frustrations were mostly user error [smiling]. And to take that a bit deeper most of my department’s frustrations were my user error [laughing]. Turns out those couple times I called the Solution Systems Support Department in a panic it all related to me needing more training on a few specific things. I just hope your colleagues didn’t think I was acting as if Aliens were invading the country and this was Defcon 1.

Me: Of course we didn’t think that. Judging by the panic in your voice we thought the Aliens had already invaded and taken over your body. [Laughing]

Frankie: [Rolls Eyes] Oh brother!

Me: You bring up a wonderful point though. We see a lot of panic, and rightfully so if something is not working how it should be.

Frankie: I’m sure Solution Systems does. If I can give some advice to “my people” who panic [Smiling]. Just take a deep breath and take a step back. Let SSI do their job. They’ll work quickly to diagnose the problem and provide a resolution.

Me: Thanks for the kind words Frankie! Ok, I have to ask. Have you seen Dynamics 365 Business Central?

Frankie: You bet your bottom dollar I have and it looks amazing!

Me: Do you think it’s something you may want to upgrade to in the future?

Frankie: Funny you should ask that. I just had a discussion with my team and we made the decision to upgrade this year.

Me: Wow, that’s great to hear! Is there any particular reason you want to upgrade so soon?

Frankie: Well, it’s been just over a year since we installed Dynamics NAV but after seeing Dynamics 365 Business Central’s integration capabilities we knew we had to upgrade. It’s a different world out there today than it was 20, 10, and even 5 years ago. The up and coming workforce along with our people want the ability and the tools to work remotely.

Me: The working landscape is definitely changing at a rapid pace and I think Dynamics 365 Business Central is setup to accommodate this immediately and well into the future.

Frankie: From what I’ve seen I agree.

Me: Well Frankie, I’m glad things are working well for you and that you’ve made the decision to upgrade from Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central. Thanks for taking the time and hopefully we can do this again after you’ve been using Business Central for a bit.

Frankie: Absolutely. I’d love to chat again. By the way, do you play poker?

Me: [Smiling] My money is not your money.

Frankie: The more the merrier! [Laughing]
