[Podcast] Artificial Intelligence & ERP
Updated: Aug 4, 2021
Season 1, Episode 2 Two Guys, Coffee & Business
Today we are talking about Artificial Intelligence and its future with Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP). Artificial Intelligence is defined as
the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.
As artificial intelligence advances will there be a benefit for your business? Will it improve such functions as data entry, historical data analysis, predictive analysis, and other key features performed by humans. Listen in to see our thoughts and how ultimately this will affect Enterprise Resource Planning software.

00:17
hello everyone this is episode 2 season
00:22
one and two guys coffee and business
00:24
podcast
00:24
I am Michael and Trevor Tolo and I'm
00:27
here with Condor ch
00:29
I'm Dortch the man today we talk about
00:34
artificial intelligence yeah yeah it's a
00:40
another interesting topic that is
00:44
seeming to be the future of everything
00:47
very very true before we talk about at
00:50
the time I want to tell everybody uh
00:52
what coffee I'm drinking instance you
00:55
know we like to talk about coffee a
00:57
little bit so I am drinking a wonderful
00:59
vanilla flavored cup of coffee that is
01:03
gluten made from our rib but I can I can
01:08
never say it oh this cat i ripping up
01:11
beans hitman that has been medium
01:14
roasted it's definitely a pretty good
01:17
blend very tasty not too weak not too
01:20
strong you know it's perfect for me
01:23
today I also want to point out ray yeah
01:26
definitely but I want to point out one
01:29
more thing is that I'm drinking this out
01:31
of a Yeti Cup which was given to me at a
01:33
conference in Arizona by a couple of
01:35
real good guys real good nav EDI supply
01:40
chain management guys by the names of
01:41
Peter and Eric from di central so a
01:44
little shout-out to those guys awesome
01:50
so uh should we get started talking
01:52
about artificial intelligence yeah
01:55
completely agree so what what have you
01:57
heard lately about artificial
01:58
intelligence if you've seen any of the
01:59
videos or whatnot about people talking
02:03
about it and showing what it or when its
02:05
capabilities are yeah so I mean it's
02:08
it's all a lot of self learning
02:11
capabilities is the main the main thing
02:14
so the way that these artificial
02:17
intelligence machines are learning is
02:21
from there
02:21
Ariane's is so there was uh there was
02:25
actually this one I bought was pretty
02:27
cool
02:28
and it was it was this machine that was
02:33
playing a video game
02:35
and when I first started out it was just
02:37
absolutely awful as you could imagine
02:39
and by the end of it they let this
02:44
machine run all night long and the next
02:46
day they came and checked on it and it
02:48
was the master at this video game they
02:50
could just didn't lose it was free it's
02:53
pretty remarkable Wow so within one day
02:56
or one night it basically conquered the
03:00
entire game which I would say would be
03:02
safe to assume took people I mean at
03:05
least months to probably beat the game
03:08
right and it still wouldn't perform to
03:10
the same level as a artificial machine
03:13
and it was crazy that this they could
03:15
learn so fast and just one night
03:18
I completely agree you know it reminds
03:20
me of that movie and what we talked
03:22
about it before with Will Smith called
03:24
iRobot it seems that that movie is
03:28
basically on its way to becoming true
03:31
what do you think yeah there's a so
03:35
there was a robot that was created
03:37
called Sophia and it actually became a
03:40
citizen in Saudi Arabia
03:43
really Saudi Arabia made a distinction
03:46
unbelievable yeah the first the very
03:49
first robot to become a citizen in in
03:51
the world no go ahead
03:55
I was gonna say I've heard of that robot
03:58
but I'm not sure if it was was it
04:00
created in like Japan and then Saudi
04:04
Arabia made a citizen Jose she created
04:06
in Saudi Arabia do you know you know I'm
04:08
not really I'm not sure where was
04:10
created but I do know that uh it
04:13
actually has given speeches in Saudi
04:16
Arabia it was a speaker at a at a
04:19
keynote event and it was describing how
04:22
it's there to help humans
04:24
oh I mean hopefully there is no Will
04:29
Smith I Robot future for us but uh
04:34
I'm not sure it was a definitely very
04:38
interesting to look into yeah I saw a
04:40
video of Sophia being interviewed by a
04:43
journalist and what was amazing about it
04:46
was the journalist would just ask it
04:50
questions and a lot of the questions and
04:54
answer right away but only a couple it
04:56
was like it was thinking before it
04:57
answered the question some of them
04:59
actually it seemed like it was saying
05:02
what you wanted to hear and not what it
05:04
wanted to say which is it's kind of
05:06
frightening Oh see you think that they
05:09
have emotions know about emotions but I
05:14
think it it it understands maybe what
05:19
our emotions will be so I'll tell you
05:23
what first so for example I heard this
05:25
robot had previously said that it had
05:27
hated humans so the journalists
05:29
purposely asked you brought up that
05:31
topic and asked it what do you think
05:34
about humans and it took a couple of
05:36
seconds before it it said it's the
05:38
answer and it basically said you know I
05:40
love humans were here to prosper
05:42
together there's something along those
05:44
lines but I couldn't help but think to
05:46
myself does the robot really want to say
05:49
that or is it just saying it to avoid
05:51
confrontation right right yeah I mean I
05:54
am so I thought something it was a
06:01
artificial intelligent machine that was
06:03
designed to go on Twitter and learn how
06:07
to communicate with Millennials and it
06:11
ended up saying that Hitler was correct
06:15
and it was it was saying some pretty
06:19
bizarre things that 9/11 was made up and
06:22
so I was I'm assuming it was I
06:26
Twitter's tweets then I'm pretty sure
06:30
this was a Microsoft artificial
06:33
really yes and it went completely
06:36
haywire I may end up getting rid of it
06:39
pretty quickly yeah what less they want
06:43
to do is create racist robots very great
06:47
ah that's such a shame
06:52
I heard about though the uh I think it
06:54
was Facebook with their artificial
06:56
intelligence they created the the to a
06:58
eyes and they were specifically told to
07:01
speak to speak and communicate in
07:03
English so that we can the humans can
07:06
observe what what you're doing and the
07:08
robots or the AIS I'm pretty quickly
07:11
realized that English was inefficient
07:13
and decided to create their own language
07:16
based on characters numbers symbols and
07:19
that sort of thing and taught it selves
07:23
a new language because it was just more
07:24
efficient which which is a kind of a
07:28
crazy sodding once again there's a movie
07:31
I Robot yeah
07:34
and that kind of makes me think is that
07:36
beneficial because it is trying to find
07:38
the most efficient way possible to do
07:41
things but it's kind of creepy that it
07:44
can become so efficient that we can't
07:46
even understand it
07:47
right I mean so what if a great point
07:51
what if it they decide to or it can
07:54
figure out a cure for every single
07:56
disease but what happens when the robots
07:58
realized hey you know what humans are
08:00
inefficient
08:01
maybe these cures we need to add a
08:03
little something to kind of you know get
08:06
rid of the human race that's a pretty
08:11
scary bottom so it's definitely uh
08:17
definitely uh definitely crazy so what
08:21
do you think you think everybody's gonna
08:23
have some sort of access to artificial
08:27
intelligence whether it's that IBM
08:29
Watson or or whatever it is within the
08:32
next two years you know just something
08:34
to communicate with them on their
08:35
computers yeah absolutely I mean uh
08:39
already today people are dealing with
08:42
with having AI in their lives theory for
08:46
example is an example of an AI machine
08:50
and it what it does is it translates
08:51
your voice into text and then feeds that
08:54
text into a search engine and then it
08:57
just speaks out whatever it finds
09:00
I mean now that's already a ID and there
09:05
and now you're going with stuff such as
09:06
Google assistant which something that's
09:10
pretty cool there they're looking for a
09:13
future capability to make it to become
09:16
basically a real assistant and so to
09:19
figure out let's just think about this
09:22
scenario for a second let's say you're
09:24
on a plane home from a business trip and
09:27
you have dinner reservations that night
09:29
with some friends to catch up your
09:32
flight gets delayed how are you gonna
09:35
and you're on the plane and it's just
09:37
taking a while your Google assistant
09:40
already knows that there's a conflict
09:41
and now it can alert you but they're
09:45
hoping in the future that it will be
09:47
able to alert the person you're having
09:49
dinner with and also find a new dinner
09:51
reservation for you all while you're
09:54
still on the plane Wow so what you're
09:57
saying in that scenario would be that
09:58
it's going to realize that there's no
10:00
possible way you're going to be able to
10:02
exit the plane get in a car get to where
10:05
you got to go in time and because it
10:07
realized this it's automatically going
10:09
to notify your dinner party and
10:12
reservations or whatnot that's uh right
10:15
hey to me that that's super efficient
10:18
right there who wouldn't want that right
10:19
right everybody with everybody could
10:21
benefit from that that's the UH that's
10:25
the part that we do like about
10:26
artificial intelligence I would say yeah
10:30
you know what else just came online to
10:31
it was a plain scenario what if there's
10:34
a problem on the plane and it's let's
10:38
say it's descending it's going to crash
10:40
or whatnot AI can most likely be able to
10:43
figure out or crunch the numbers the
10:46
data a lot quicker than the pilots will
10:48
be able to to figure out the best
10:49
possible scenario for survival yeah and
10:54
that's what a lot of companies I feel
10:56
like are trying to do with AI is make it
11:00
have more preventive or predictive
11:03
maintenance or something along those
11:07
lines to to help situation down like
11:10
that
11:11
yeah definitely now I know Microsoft
11:13
haze Cortana and they've started using
11:19
Cortana you know with with personal
11:21
computers and things like that but
11:23
recently they've brought it into the
11:24
business world to where Cortana can
11:27
forecast like you know inventory or what
11:34
you'll need in your inventory in the
11:35
future going forward different months
11:37
things like that where do you think AI
11:40
is going to go in the business world
11:42
yeah it's definitely gonna help
11:48
streamline your routine tasks I think
11:51
that it'll eventually be able to pick up
11:55
trends in your everyday tasks and it'll
11:59
be able to automate the stuff do you do
12:01
on a regular basis I mean I mean that's
12:05
I see that happening very very shortly
12:08
down the road what do you know do you
12:10
Evan you know I completely agree with it
12:14
and I actually wrote down a couple
12:16
points here about uh you know basically
12:18
how AI will improve ERP so the three
12:21
points I wrote down where the first is
12:22
it's going to improve the
12:24
decision-making process by basically
12:26
being able to analyze larger data sets
12:30
than what humans could possibly do
12:32
previously the second is I put down
12:35
automation of data input so right now
12:38
manual entry is it's very costly and you
12:41
know with humans there's always going to
12:42
be errors but if you come by an AI with
12:45
you know in the air piece such as
12:47
Microsoft Dynamics NAV it's going to be
12:49
able to learn the data sources real
12:51
quick create workflows and basically
12:53
reduce the time of that data entry and
12:56
be able to enter it with a lot less
12:57
fewer errors and the third point I wrote
13:00
down is workflow enhancement so what
13:04
this is it's going to improve the
13:05
business processes you know through like
13:09
analyzing historical data ai is going to
13:12
be able to analyze numbers and
13:14
everything a lot further back than we
13:17
are in a lot less time and then from
13:19
there it's going to be able to create
13:20
like the most effective internal work
13:22
processes
13:24
so it's all about efficiency with with a
13:28
I guess an example would be you know if
13:32
there's already an established workflow
13:33
in your company and then performing the
13:36
next task until you know you have to
13:38
provide the necessary information needed
13:40
to complete the task what what can
13:42
happen is all this is going to be done
13:45
effortlessly without mistakes and
13:47
completely streamlined it I mean it's
13:50
going to be great for business
13:52
yeah I completely agree I think those
13:55
are all awesome situations and it
13:57
there's no I Robot scenario that could
14:00
possibly come from that if they're you
14:02
know they're it's built into the machine
14:04
it can't be walking around robot trying
14:08
to take over hey very true boys the only
14:13
doubts that I see well not the only
14:15
downside but one of the big downsides I
14:16
see to AI in business and I'm not sure
14:19
if Bill Gates have brought this up or
14:22
Elon Musk is it's going to take away
14:24
from human jobs yeah I that's a big
14:31
concern of mine I would say I mean
14:33
everything is going to start to be done
14:37
through AI and I'm wondering where the
14:41
future is gonna go from from there
14:44
honestly I do not know my friend I do
14:47
not know but it's uh you know it's gonna
14:51
be very interesting gonna be very very
14:54
interesting I got only time we'll color
14:56
right yep well that's all I got for uh
15:00
for this episode you guys anything else
15:02
you want to touch upon no that's
15:04
everything I got I just want to thank
15:06
everybody for for listening and hope
15:09
hopefully they continue to listen on and
15:11
in the future and see we have to say
15:13
yeah I completely agree with you all
15:16
right well I'm Michael and Trevor Tolo
15:18
and this is Tom Dortch all right we were
15:22
we are for working for solution systems
15:24
so everybody keep doing what you're
15:26
doing and we'll see you on the next
15:28
episode of two guys coffee in business
15:31
and as always if you like what you hear
15:33
don't forget to share this podcast
15:37
thanks
