How do existing DPL customers transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises?
Customers with a Dynamics NAV 2009 MBL, Dynamics NAV 2009 BRL or Dynamics NAV 2018 Perpetual license can transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises via License Migration Transition Upgrade (LMTU). For more information on this transition path, see the Dynamics 365 Business Central onpremises Transition policy.
Customers with a Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics SL, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations on-premises, Microsoft Dynamics C5 2012, or legacy products listed in the Dynamics Transition Policy, with an active Enhancement plan can transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises via Product Line Transition.
Will Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018 (DPL) be available after the release of Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises?
Dynamics NAV 2018 on-premises sold via the Dynamics Price List (DPL) will no longer be available for new customers effective April 1, 2019. Existing customers may continue to license additional Dynamics NAV 2018 functionality as needed.
Can a NAV DPL customer move to Dynamics 365 Business Central cloud?
Yes, existing on-premises customers have the option to transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central in the cloud.
Is Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises available on the Subscription model?
Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises Subscription will be available effective October 1, 2018.
How can a Dynamics NAV 2018 Subscription customer transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central onpremises Subscription?
Dynamics NAV 2018 Subscription customers who wish to move to Dynamics 365 Business Central onpremises Subscription may cancel their Dynamics NAV 2018 Subscription and license a new Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises Subscription. Note that customers will not receive any credit for value remaining on their Dynamics NAV 2018 Subscription against their Dynamics 365 Business Central onpremises Subscription license order.
Is Dynamics 365 Business Central in the cloud available?
Yes, Dynamics 365 Business Central is available via Cloud Solution Provider Program (CSP).
Will Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises be available on CSP?
No, Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises is only available on the Dynamics Price List (DPL).
Does Dynamics 365 Business Central offer dual use rights?
Yes, when you purchase via CSP and have an active subscription. For more details refer to the Dual Use Rights section in the Dynamics 365 Business Central Licensing Guide for details.
How does a customer get their license keys for Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises when exercising their dual use rights?
Dynamics 365 Business Central cloud customers can access their dual use rights license key by signing in to CustomerSource, selecting the ‘My Products and Services’ link from the dropdown menu and then clicking on the ‘Registration Keys’ link beside the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central product.

How do DPL concurrent licenses transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises named users?
Per the Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises Upgrade Policy, Dynamics NAV 2009 and Dynamics NAV 2018 customers transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises will receive two Business Central on-premises Full Named users for each Full Concurrent NAV user licensed prior to October 1, 2018.
Dynamics NAV 2009 and Dynamics NAV 2018 customers transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises will receive one Business Central on-premises Full Named user for each Full Concurrent NAV user licensed after October 1, 2018.
Customers transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises via Product Line transition can choose the users and functionality they require from the Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises catalog.
How do NAV 2018 Limited Concurrent CALs transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises named users?
Per the Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises Upgrade Policy, Dynamics NAV 2018 customers transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises will receive two Business Central on-premises Team Members licenses for each “Limited Concurrent CAL” licensed prior to December 1, 2018.
Dynamics NAV 2018 customers transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises will receive one Business Central on-premises Team Members licenses for each “Limited Concurrent CAL – Limited Upgrade” licensed after December 1, 2018.
Can a customer downgrade from Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises to Dynamics NAV 2018?
Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises customers will not be granted access to NAV 2018 license keys.
What is a Dynamics 365 Team Members license?
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Team Members license includes read access as well as some write access for select light tasks across Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises.
Do customers get Dynamics 365 business Central on-premises functionality if they purchase a Team Members license?
At least one full user, Essentials or Premium, must be licensed to get Dynamics 365 functionality.
