Updated: Jan 21, 2020
Hi, I’m Michael Intravartolo here with Ken Sebahar and this is A Shot of Business Central and a Beer. Our monthly podcast to help you learn how to best utilize Microsoft’s most popular ERP software. In this episode we’re talking about recent Business Central news, a few 2019 podcast highlights, building custom reports, and the Clever Global Search App while we sip and review Trader Joe’s Providential Golden Ale, so let’s get started.
And what better way to start a podcast than by cracking open a new cold beer. Today’s beer has been provided by our colleague Elena and it’s Trader Joe’s Providential Golden Ale. As I take my first sip Ken, I have to confess I’ve never had a beer from Trader Joe’s, have you?

Segment 1 – Beer Review
Beeradvocate.com rating of 88 or very good.
Trader Joe’s Providential Golden Ale is made by Unibroue Brewery located in Canada. Unibroue Brewery draws inspiration from the great brewing traditions developed over the last two centuries by Trappist monks in Europe—particularly in Belgium. Their beers preserve all their protein and part of their yeast, making them truly worth savoring.
Trader Joes currently puts their name on 21 different beers.
7.5% Alcohol Content
Some words that have been used to describe this beer are: Very straight forward banana peel and clove spice that didn’t linger for too long, pours slightly hazy in an orange amber color with yellow highlights and nearly white head, aromas of bready malt and caramel sweetness along with some fruity esters and spice notes, and the taste is gentle, sweet, and warming.
Our Ratings: Ken = 40 and Michael = 60
2019 Podcast Favorite Moments
In the spirit of New Year’s countdowns here are our top 6 most popular segments from 2019:
And the most popular segment from A Shot of Business Central and A Beer Podcast in 2019 is: Business Central October 2019 Wave 2 Release Features Overview
Also a few of our favorite’s that we talked about in the Podcast during 2019.
Favorite Beer: Energy City’s Brewing Milkshake Nawi Pineapple. This beer completely shocked us with how it tasted compared to what we thought it was going to taste like. This was as craft as a craft beer can get. Crazy name, good flavors, and from a small local brewery.
Favorite Segment: Talking Business Central with Jim Gio from Triangle Package Machinery. This is our favorite because of its importance. Hearing about Business Central from an actual Business Central customer we think really resonates with our audience.
Favorite Feature: Assembly Orders vs Production Orders. I liked this feature because I think we did a great job clarifying the differences and when you should one or the other.
Favorite App: Clever Document Links. This app performed drag and drop flawlessly and at the time was head and shoulders above the other apps that performed drag and drop.
Worst Moment: Ken's stomach ache after drinking the variety of Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy's from Episode 3.

Segment 4 – Business Central Feature App: Clever Global Search
So Business Central has a built in search feature so why do you need the global search by Clever? Well the global search by Clever allows you to narrow down the tables and fields that you want to search to make your search more accurate and quickly.
Installation was a breeze. Within 10 minutes I was searching for what I wanted. Search was fast and precise.
I like that during setup where you are choosing which tables and records you want Clever Global Search to be looking through you can use the Table Filter option to not show certain things. So for example, you may not want to show customers which don’t have a VAT Registration Number.

Wish you could have all your records in a single search?
Invoke Clever Global Search and enter the search term you want to find, that can be a complete or partial name, phone number, postcode, item description, code or anything else you want.
Clever Global Search allows you to easily find records in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. With Clever Global Search, you have a simple page within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to search across multiple tables. On a single screen you can see the information that is important to you for each entity.
Flexible search criteria across both standard and custom table and fields
User-friendly drop-down list and field information
Fast, maintained indexes means you get instant search results
The fastest way to navigate your data
Wildcards such as “?”, and “*” allow for a broader or more specific search result
Clever Global Search will instantly return a list across multiple tables of records where that phrase or combination of phrases occurs.
It ranks in terms of priority so that records which have more ‘hits’ for the search term appear first.
Once you’ve found that data, we help you comply with GDPR by adding the capability to obfuscate that data, replacing it with a number series code.
You can still satisfy your audit responsibilities, as we maintain one table which relates the number series code back to its original value.
It’s all completely customisable, you can control table by table, field by field what data you would like to be included, which means that your custom tables can quickly be included.
Help manage your data with Clever Global Search today.
